Desmond Barrett, who was once Lehigh's leading opponent of incorporation, has signed on to help the chamber plan the lecture series.

Barrett, 26, is chairman of the East County Water Control District Board of Supervisors. He founded the anti-incorporation group Citizens Against Increased Taxes in January 2004, but left in November.

He said he changed his position on incorporation after serving for several months on the Lehigh Acres Community Planning Corp., which is working with the county to plan for Lehigh's growth but has hit several roadblocks over the past year.
